Field Instruments & Smart transmitters

Field Instruments & Smart transmitters

Instruments form the backbone of just about every organisation around the world, that does process control. These devices are used to measure a number of process variables. These could include a level, pressure, temperature, flow, pH, conductivity, et cetera.

In most instances, these devices provide a range of different signals. Discrete signals would typically be used for high and low alarms and could include a choice between 0 V and 24 Vdc. Analogue instruments would provide a varied signal between 0 and 100 percent. Some of the more common choices would include the well-established 4-20 mA signal. Analogue signals could also be measured from the couples, RTD’s, etc.

If you wish to enter the digital era, more sophisticated and smart devices are available. This would include Foundation Fieldbus and Profibus devices. But, what if you wished to go for a hybridised system that slots in neatly between these two choices. HART would be a possible solution. But, what is HART?

PetroKnowledge have designed a Field Instruments and Smart Transmitters course that will answer these and many other questions in a practical way that help industry delegates to come to grip with measuring devices. The training course is filled with many facts, covers a range of devices, and explains technical terms in a manner that is easy to understand and implement.
