Why Choose this Training Course?

Floating production structures are often similar in appearance to a ship and carries all the necessary production and processing facilities, also known as "topsides". These facilities are normally associated with a fixed oil and gas platform but are instead modularized and placed on the hull.

Topsides are the upper part of an offshore oil platform, or an FPSO. These topsides include crude oil and gas processing facilities as well as the accommodation, helipad, and flares. Topside processing systems carry out distinct functions and are packaged into the modules each of which has a specific function. Their main advantage is that vessels are standalone structures that do not need external infrastructure such as pipelines or storage. The processed crude oil is then offloaded to a shuttle tanker at regular intervals, depending on production and storage capacity. FPSOs today produce from around 10,000 to 200,000 barrels per day. There are more than 200 FPSO’s in operation today. A more recent addition to floating oil and gas processing ships includes FLNG’s and FSRU’s.

This PetroKnowledge training course will highlight:

  • Oil and gas treatment
  • Oil and gas storage, offloading and export
  • Introduction to topside Layouts
  • Utility and process support systems
  • Living quarters, flares
  • FLNG & FSRU
